A. Definition of Integrated Learning

Integrated learning is an approach to learning that intentionally links several aspects both in intra-subjects and between subjects. With the integration, students will gain knowledge and skills as a whole so that learning becomes meaningful for students. Meaning here means that in integrated learning students will be able to understand the concepts they learn through direct and real experiences that connect between concepts in intra-subjects and between subjects.

Some of the meanings of integrated learning proposed by several integrated learning experts include:

(1) according to Cohen and Manion (1992) and Brand (1991), there are three possible variations in integrated learning relating to education carried out in an atmosphere of progressive education namely integrated curriculum, integrated day, and integrated learning (integrated learning). The integrated curriculum is an activity to organize the integration of various subject matter through a cross-field theme to form a meaningful whole so that the boundaries between various fields of study are not rigorous or can be said to be nonexistent. The integrated day is in the form of designing student activities from a class on a particular day to study or work on various activities according to their interests. Meanwhile, integrated learning refers to learning activities that are organized in a more structured manner that departs from certain themes or specific lessons as the center point (center core/center of interest);

(2) integrated learning is a learning process by involving/linking various fields of study. And there are two meanings that need to be put forward to eliminate confusion from the notion of integrated learning above, namely the concept of integrated learning and integrated science.
